WHAT THE COURSE CONSISTS OF
The training course consists of 3 parts and you need to pass all 3 parts to become a fully qualified and Approved Driving Instructor (ADI).
PART 1: THEORY TEST
This is split into two parts: Multiple Choice Questions and Hazard Perception. The multiple choice part has 100 questions split into four sections. The questions are based on road procedures, traffic signs and signals, car control, pedestrians, mechanical knowledge of a car, driving test, disabilities, law on driving and instructional techniques. You must pass all 4 sections to pass the multiple choice part of the theory test. The hazard perception part consists of 14 video clips showing everyday scenarios. You need to pass both parts of the theory test to pass it overall. There are an unlimited number of times in which you can take the theory test. Once passed, you have up to 2 years to complete Part 2 and 3.
PART 2: DRIVING TEST
The driving test is an advanced test lasting for around 60-70 minutes. You must have advanced driving skills and show that you are able to drive safely in road and traffic conditions as well as have a thorough knowledge of the Highway code. The driving examiner will be looking for a high standard of competence in your Part 2. You are only allowed 3 attempts for this part.
